Ben Crittenden represents businesses and individuals in their relations with and regulation by state and local governments, focusing on disputes involving state and local tax matters, and representing clients before the Kentucky Department of Revenue, Kentucky Board of Tax Appeals, and the trial and appellate courts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Ben has also recently represented clients in matters before the Kentucky Public Service Commission, the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.  Ben has been named a "Notable Newcomer" by LexisNexis®.  He is being recognized as a relatively new attorney to the tax field who is already making an impact overall.

Recent Assignments

  • Representing an international pharmaceutical company in a Kentucky income tax nexus case
  • Assisted a national restaurant chair with a successful challenge at a sales tax assessment regarding gratuities paid by large parties
  • Representing a national retailer of heavy equipment in a matter involving a retailer's obligations in accepting sales tax exemption certificates
  • Negotiating with supply contract between private water company and a municipality

Prior to joining Stites & Harbison, Ben was a law clerk to Chief Judge Karl S. Forester in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky, from August 2002 to August 2004.

Ben recently started training for the Twisted Ankle Trial Marathon and is always looking forward to the college basketball season.
