Mr. Barber is a member of the firm's Business Litigation Service Group and Energy Law Practice, where he handles a variety of difficult matters for the firm's clients, including complex commercial litigation, environmental indemnity claims, and energy disputes.
Recent Assignments
- Lead counsel to international oil and gas exploration companies involved in multi-million dollar oil and gas rights disputes
- Defended complex commercial fraud claims brought against payment system companies
- Litigated a complex multi-million dollar environmental remediation and allocation dispute in Western Kentucky
- Defended shareholder fiduciary duty claims brought against private equity fund
- Successfully tried wrongful death products liability claim filed against a leading lawn tractor manufacturer
- Defended an $8 million class action tax fraud claim filed against a national telecommunications company
- Second-chaired capital murder case as part of firm pro bono team

Before Stites & Harbison
Mr. Barber joined Stites & Harbison in 2004. Before Stites, he served as a Law Clerk from 1999 to 2001 for Hon. Jerome B. Simandle, U.S. District Court Judge for the District of New Jersey, and practiced white-collar criminal defense and commercial litigation with the Philadelphia office of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP.
More Than Stites & Harbison
Mr. Barber has been appointed by Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear to serve as a member of the Kentucky Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 2009-2012. He is a supporter of the Arts and serves on the Board of the Gallopalooza Festival and the Actors Theatre Generation One Board. Scott enjoys working on his yard, classic literature and the Philadelphia Eagles. He tries to stay in shape by biking to work, playing squash (poorly) and chasing his four young children.
