Neal Bailen is an Associate in the firm’s Jeffersonville office. His practice focuses on civil litigation and health care law. He is licensed to practice in Indiana and Kentucky.
Recent Assignments
- Defended national mortgage loan company throughout Indiana and Kentucky against multiple lawsuits alleging violations of the federal Truth-in-Lending Act and other lender liability laws
- Worked with a hospice care provider in reviewing and amending contracts with nursing homes located in Kentucky and Indiana to ensure compliance with recent changes in Medicare conditions of participation
- Advised a Kentucky physician practice on Stark issues associated with alternative compensation arrangements for a physician employed on a part-time basis
- Assisted in obtaining a directed verdict in the defense of a national manufacturer against claims of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract
- Assisted an international toy company in developing a compliance program in response to the enactment of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act
- Assisted a Kentucky health system in responding to an investigation by the Office of Civil Rights pursuant to allegations of HIPAA violations
Before Stites & Harbison
Neal joined Stites & Harbison in 2006. Before law school, Neal worked in Chicago for Ketchum, a global public relations firm, and later as a freelance journalist. His articles and essays have appeared in outlets including National Public Radio and The Cleveland Plain Dealer Sunday Magazine.

Neal is a member of the board of directors for District 14 of Indiana’s Legal Volunteers program, which serves citizens of Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Orange, Scott and Washington counties.
